Question

In New York, “sole custody” means that the custodial parent is able to solely make major decisions e.g. relating to the child’s education, health, religion and country of residence, whereas “joint custody” means both parents have to consent to such major decision for the child.

Answer

In the Russian law, an alternative to the term child of custody is the term of the determination of place of residence of child. Under request of the Mother, the Father, of both of them, the judge will decide who will be custodian parent. Non-custodial parent has the visitations rights and an obligation to pay child support. It is similar but not the same of American model of the child custody.
